| ROME: finally, the final destination! |

i am very ready to go home now i cant believe ill be there so soon! after 11 months i think... my bed...a clean toilet...not having to wear thongs in the shower (i nearly typed "flip flops" phew that was close i have to start getting back into aussie vocab mode)
so anyway just clearing up the whole wallet thing it wasnt traumatic getting pickpocketed, it was more the chasing after them and grabbing hold of a scary spaniard and abusing him for 15 mins and knowing i would never get it back, that kinda sucked. but its ok it was just a lot of cash, credit cards and passports are all okay. it was a very expensive lesson learnt
so i dont know if ive written much about the last few weeks me and gaelle (a friend i met in montreal who i stayed with in grenoble which is in the french alps) we packed up the car and drove to the gorge du verdon, somewhere on the way we realised we had forgotten to pack any kind of sleeping material ie sleeping backs, mats etc. and once we got to the camp ground and set up the tent, it was only big enough for one and a half people. so basically we lay on our sides on the hard ground freezing to death for a few hours until we both crawled into the car and conked out in there instead. it was pretty funny actually!
anyway so we drove around the coast for 4 days and then to Ales for her graduation ceremony. we met Francois and Karine there who were also in Montreal and we spent the weekend chilling out and doing nothing which was wonderful.
then on monday francois drove me to Narbonne near the spanish border where i nearly missed the train to barcelona but i wish i had missed it becos then maybe iw ouldnt have gone and all that crap wouldnt have happened but then there were lots of things i could have done differently to avoid it and if i keep following this train of thought i will go mad.
anyway it was really awesome seeing people i knew for more than 4 days and being able to meet real french people. i was very sad saying goodbye to them this time cos at least in montreal i knew id see them again in a couple of months. i wonder when i will see them again next? i had an amazing time in france though thanks guys! and sorry about running off into the mountains without telling anyone hehe
so now i am in rome and i went to the cinema for the first time since i started the trip and we saw stepford wives and it was rather disappointing. i am unbelievably behind movie wise but never fear i have a 17 hour flight ahead of me with singapore airlines, i can manage 8 movies before i get home!
i cant believe its nearly over, i just hope the next few days go smoothly and are as unadventurous as possible. hope everyones having an interesting break, see some of you really damn soon! |

we just went for a hike to a 2060m peak and i swear i nearly died a few times from slipping on the rocks or from exhaustion the worst part was Gaelle her dad and her bf were about 50m ahead the whole time and had to keep stopping to wait while i stumbled up panting and grumbling they told me it was an easy hike! my idea of an easy hike is nice flat asphalt not scrambling up vertical walls of rock with only a cable to hold on to and 2kms of air between you and the ground!! boy do i deserve some chocolate mousse
so maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, its not like we scaled a cliff with a rope and harness or anything. im just very unfit
i have drank too much champagne my head is spinning |
